Diesel-CNG dual fuel systems fall into a grey area with respect to EPA certification. As with gasoline-CNG bi-fuel systems, Technocarb's diesel-CNG systems do not tamper with a vehicle's emission controls and all remain intact and fully functional. As a result, Technocarb's EcoDiesel System does not generate any OBDII CELs. Tailpipe emissions are at least as clean as they would be with diesel-only operation. For those applications where low-cost CNG is readily available, the EcoDiesel System can provide a quick payback with reduced fuel costs and improved fuel economy. DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) equipped vehicles (2007 and newer) realize additional fuel economy due to reduced DPF-regen cycles.
